This course is designed for Australians looking to build a career in horticulture, including career changers exploring the green industries, garden enthusiasts ready to go professional, council and parks workers wanting structured knowledge, and nursery or landscaping staff seeking formal development. No prior qualifications are required, though a general interest in plants and outdoor environments will help you get the most from the material.

The course covers ten subject areas across 100 lessons, including plant science, soil science, propagation techniques, pest and disease management, irrigation and water management, landscape design principles, nursery operations, and sustainable horticulture. You will also work through practical topics such as identifying Australian native plants and weeds, reading soil test reports, designing irrigation plans, and exploring career pathways across the Australian horticulture industry. The course finishes with a capstone project that brings your learning together into a professional piece of work.

The course is designed around approximately 242 hours of study, which you can spread across your own schedule at whatever pace suits you. If you have existing experience and want to move through the material more efficiently, a fast-track pathway is available at around 22 hours. Most learners will fall somewhere between these two depending on their background and how deeply they engage with each module.

The course is recognised by ICOES (International Council for Online Educational Standards) and carries CPD (Continuing Professional Development) recognition, making it useful for practitioners who need to demonstrate ongoing learning.
